I was born into a family deeply connected to the Chilean countryside and the natural world, there I developed an early fascination for nature, materials and all the organic forms that surrounded me. Inspired by the natural processes of form creation, I embarked on a path of chapes and transformation. My work progresses in the same way as a biological entity would. Always embracing minimalism and abstraction, this sinuous progress leads to more complex shapes that retain simplicity and try to be sensitive at the same time. Through my work, I try to celebrate the innate beauty of creation and the containment of life, its external appearance remains mute, it only accompanies in an elegant and silent way. My work returns to the rescue of ancestral finishing techniques and natural tones which are an accurate ally that brings my biomorphic works closer to the origins of humanity.
Developing a intuitive and experimental personal creative process, experiment using different firings and ceramic materials, textures, construction techniques, glazes, and engobes. Each work try to be a testimony of the achievement reached in management of form and material. With a constant dedication to experimentation, I bring my works to life, evoking a sense of organic growth and evolution.
Beyond sculpture, I have broadened my artistic horizons venturing into cultural management, creating collaborative instances like “TerraMar”, TerrAlta” and “Barro6” Collective, developing new exhibition alternatives that has benefited many members of the academy in my region. My passion also extends to mentoring, where I collaborate with other artists sharing my experience to accompany them on their own journey.
One of my last highlights in my artistic career is to have been elected as The IAC Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean. And also in this present year my piece “Ciclo Continuo” has been chosen as part of the final selection of the Taiwan Ceramic Biennale in Taiwan, New Taipei Museum.
